Intro

Take a little flour, water, a pinch of salt and yeast, and what do you get? Bread. But the bread from our regions, with its rich flavours and aromas, is a world apart. And what superb pies! Imagine the best fruit combined with the best pastry. Imagine also fine biscuits, warm waffles, marzipan, speculoos (ginger biscuits) and other treats that turn any occasion into a feast... you can only be in Wallonia!

However, the recipes still exist and the bakers pride themselves on satisfying the expectations of the people of Wallonia, who will never accept cotton-wool bread and cardboard pies. The still strong traditional recipes are concocted with the best ingredients: our regions are brimming with them! If you are not convinced, just sniff the air in front of one of our bakeries. Open a box of « sables ». Give into temptation with a speculoos biscuit, marzipan or hot Liège waffle that exudes the smell of childhood...

LIEGE WAFFLES are better still in winter... And between Christmas and New Year, « Cougnous or Cougnolles », sweet breads in the form of the baby Jesus, are on every table.
